Industrial visit to Parth Prachet Industries

On 12th April 2022, the students of TY B.Sc. Biotechnology from St. Xavier’s College,
Mapusa visited Parth Prachet Industries, Bethora, Ponda. We were accompanied by our

teachers Ms. Jocelyn Fernandes, Dr. Maria Carina Cordeiro and Ms. Swaroopa Naik. The
primary aim of the visit was to gain information about the various processes carried out in an
industrial plant.

Parth Prachet industry is a small scale plant that deals in ayurvedic medicine. We were

welcomed by their staff Mrs. Manisha Kerkar and Mr. Rajendra Kinekar. We were taken inside
in 3 batches. A lot precaution was taken to ensure sterility inside the plant, hence we carried
autoclaved lab coats, headgear, masks and plastic footwear. Mr. Rajendra Kinekar ensured we

sanitized our hands and took us inside to tour the plant. There were 3 sections in the plant,
manufacturing room, packing room and storage room. The storeroom consisted of 3 separate

rooms for raw material, packing material and finished goods. We were shown the various
semi-automated equipment used in the making and filling of capsules. The ointment

manufacturing section consisted of 2 tubs for water and oil. There was also a packaging section
that had an automatic machine to package the medicines. The staff explained to us in detail the

various processes leading to the packaging of medicines and also showed us the quality
assurance department.

A few brands like Ojastava (comes in form of a capsule), Ojastava plus are manufactured in the
plant. The field trip was successful. The trip provided us with immense insight into the in-
