Editorial

It is my pleasure to introduce to you, our beloved readers, the newest edition of the

departmental newsletter "Sequence: unravel yourself" through an e-release. ‘Sequence’
in Biology refers to the arrangement of nucleotides in a gene that makes up for the
blueprint of our complex functioning. This newsletter is our humble attempt to bring
forth to you the achievements of our department.

The department of Biotechnology can proudly boast about being the first department
to introduce the “e-release” method thus paving the way for paper-free release of
newsletters at the college level. This year we bring to you the most enthralling

version of creative writing, artwork and a glimpse of our departmental activities
through captivating photo galleries and reports.

As we usher in the new academic year 2022-23, it is only befitting to look back at all

our accomplishments and feel proud, while also improving our shortcomings. It’s
said that “Things turn out best for people who make the best out of the way things
turn out”. The recent COVID-19 restrictions that were placed, brought our normal
functioning to a standstill. Nonetheless, as we acclimatised ourselves to the 'new

normal', our students left no stone unturned to grab every opportunity that came
their way to highlight the many talents they possess.

This newsletter wouldn’t have materialised without the encouragement form our

Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Blanche Mascarenhas and our Administratior Fr. Antonio Salema.
I also acknowledge the wholehearted support of our co-ordinator Ms. Anabel R.
Alphonso and my colleagues. Your motivation helped me and the team to bring this
newsletter to fruition. I thank my student members of the Editorial team, Ms. Jaya

Makimmane and Ms. Shefali Temkar (T.Y.BSc) for your inputs and dedication. Lastly,
I thank everyone who has contributed towards this newsletter.

I hope this newsletter makes for an interesting read and gives you a glimpse into the
         exhilarating world of Biotechnology.
