Session on ‘Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

The Department of Biotechnology organized an interactive session on the topic
‘Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)’ under the DBT Star College Scheme for the staff and

students of the college on 24th May 2022 at 10:30 am in the Seminar Hall. The session
was conducted by Dr. Emanuel Gracias, Gynecologist and Obstetrician and Joint MD at

the Gracias Maternity Hospital, Margao and was attended by faculty members as well as
students from across streams.

During the session, the participants learnt the reasons why PCOS diagnosis matters, the

signs and symptoms to look out for and also the ways to lessen the effect of the
syndrome. With almost 1 in 5 women being diagnosed with PCOS in India, the session
was vital in creating awareness and encouraging early diagnosis among young girls. An

info-graphic flyer was also circulated as a take away note and reminder to the
participants.

The session ended with an elaborate Q and A session at 11:45 pm.
