St. Xavier’s College, Goa launched the DBT Star College Scheme on 10th January, 2022 via an online programme on Google Meet. The Chief Guest of the Inaugural Programme was The Registrar of Goa University, Prof. V.S. Nadkarni. The Guests of Honour for the event were Dr. Garima Gupta (Scientist E, Programme Officer, DBT Star College Scheme), Dr. V. Arunachalam (Principal Scientist – Horticulture, ICAR, Goa), and Dr. Nandini Fernandes (Associate Professor, Dean of Life Sciences, Head of Zoology, Programme Coordinator, DBT Star College, Chowgule College, Goa). The audience were welcomed by The Administrator of St. Xavier’s College, Rev. Fr. Antonio Salema and The Principal, Prof. Blanche Mascarenhas. Dr. Trelita de Sousa (Programme Coordinator, DBT Star College, St. Xavier’s College) introduced the Star College Scheme to the audience, explaining the objectives, terms and conditions, and work plan of the scheme. The programme was followed by an online interdisciplinary workshop on Biosafety and Laboratory Waste Management organised by the Deaprtments of Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Mathematics, Microbiology, and Physics.
