Circular regarding Two Days Workshop on "Digital Education: Conceptualization, Design & Development of MOOCs"

The initiatives of the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) include projects aimed at fostering excellence in digital education and creating educational resources. In view with NEP 2020 and with an intent to create and facilitate seamless integration of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC)s into the academic structure of higher education in the state of Goa, DHE launched its flagship programme “MANDAVI” (Mentoring and Nurturing Digital and Virtual Initiatives) for mentoring, training and supporting faculty from higher education institutions towards design and development of the MOOC content.

Under MANDAVI, DHE has completed development of two MOOCs, one in Music and the other in Analytical Chemistry and as the part of the MoU, DHE has handed over these MOOCs to the National Co-ordinator of the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC) for subsequent hosting on SWAYAM. Currently, MOOC in Geology titled ‘Environmental Geology’ is in progress and MOOC content is in the final stage of development.

Further, there is a need to train the faculty from Higher Education Institutions for development of their own MOOC courses which is learner centric and interactive. In this regard, the Goa State Higher Education (GSHEC) & DHE in collaboration with CEC, is organising Two Days Workshop on “Digital Education: Conceptualization, Design & Development of MOOCs” on 12th October & 13th October 2023.

In this workshop, expert sessions will be conducted to provide hands-on training which includes usage of SWAYAM MOOCs in various disciplines, planning and outlining content of a MOOC course based on four quadrant design and development procedures, use of VLab in MOOC development and use of generative AI tools in MOOC development.

Register for workshop through the google form https://forms.gle/prbQugF2vLoLkXVT6 on or before 21st September 2023 . As the workshop will offer focussed training on MOOC development and the maximum capacity of the workshop is 100 participants, the confirmation email of the shortlisted participants will be subsequently sent from DHE.
