Debate Organised by the Electoral Club of St. Xavier's College
A debate on the theme ‘Should the right to vote be mandatory?’ was organised on 13th January 2024. A total of eight students registered for the competition. Students were placed into two teams ‘For’ and ‘Against’. Each participant was given three minutes each to make opening remarks. This was followed by cross examination and rebuttal. The debate was moderated and judged by Dr. Prema Rocha and Mr. Aaron Paul Fernandes, both from the Department of English, St. Xavier’s College.
The winners were as follows:
- 1st Place – Mr. Vernon Mendes (TYBCom)
- 2nd Place – Ms. Astrid D’Mello (FYBA) & Mr. Shivang Shirodkar (FYBSc)
- 3rd Place – Mr. Neville Correia (TYBA)
