St. Xavier’s College kickstarts the academic journey 2024-2025!
The new academic year 2024-25 at St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, was ushered in with a meaningful Inaugural Programme that began with a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided bythe Archbishop of Goa and Daman, His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao.The sterling theme chosen for the year was‘Enlightened by virtue and knowledge, share the good news’.
The Administrator of the College, Fr. Tony Salema formally welcomed the Xavierian family and extended his appreciation to the students and their parents. He provided a gist of the recent developments in college. He thanked and applauded the staff for the exceptionally good performance of students in academics and sports.
The Acting Principal, Ms. Ursula Barreto, while congratulating the students for their brilliant performance in the recently held University exams, said that St. Xavier’s College provides an ecosystem in which the staff and students can be and do their best. “Team work is the hallmark at Xavier’s”, she stated.
The Cardinal in his impeccable style wished the audience a fruitful and inspiring year ahead and highlighted the importance of preparing for leadership roles in various spheres of life. He also expressed the need of having an inclusive and positive approach to life.
Two faculty members of the college Ms. Isabel de Noronha and Dr. Cajetan Raposo, and a non teaching staff member Mr. Charles Kerketta, were felicitated on their retirement and applauded for their dedicated services to the Institution.
The formal Inaugural program was followed by a vibrant cultural program put up by the students of the college. Ms. Difa Fernandes, the coordinator of the program, proposed the vote of thanks.
