Empowerment of students of economics to become resourceful contributors to the economy.
Mission:
To expose students to economic concepts and trends, and encourage them to be resourceful citizens.
The Department of Economics was set up with the inception of St. Xavier’s College and has since moved from strength to strength. Presently the Department has a five- member faculty who cater to the needs of both the Arts and Commerce streams.

The Department organizes field trips, interclass competitions, workshops and also holds talks as a part of its activities. The students also actively participate in intercollegiate competitions and have won several accolades.
Job prospects for a graduate in Economics include Banking, Teaching, Business Correspondence, IAS, Legal Professions, Public Administration, Hospitality, Financial Analysis, Data Analysis, Insurance, and Journalism among others.
